Signs of the times | SLO City revises signage rules
Signs, signs, everywhere there’s signs. And the rules for those signs, at least in the City of SLO, are getting an update.
What’s the big deal about signs? Well, as the song says, they’re everywhere and can easily contribute to visual blight (blockin’ out the scenery, breakin’ my mind). We’ve all driven through places with ugly, out-of-control signage. Most of us agree we don’t want that here.
But signs are also key in helping customers and clients find businesses, and we need a process for approving them that’s neither onerous nor quashes creativity.

Chamber advocates for Diablo funding
Decommissioning the Diablo Canyon power plant won’t start for several more years, but crucial decisions about funding that long, complex process are happening now.
Advocating for decommissioning and a federal long-term solution for the storage of spent fuel is a central tenet of the environmental stewardship section of our economic vision, Imagine SLO.

Community choice energy | What you need to know
Heard talk about community choice energy but not sure what’s what? Here’s a primer on the basics to get you powered up.
What is community choice energy and why should I care?
Instead of one utility company supplying and delivering power, a public entity steps in as broker. This go-between sources energy from carbon-free and renewable suppliers, then partners with the utility to deliver the power to you. That means you get earth-friendly carbon-free power (hydroelectric, wind, solar, etc.) typically at lower prices than you’re paying now. We see this as a win-win all around.
